ZUT PARTNERS WITH LTS GROUP AFRICA TO STRENGTHEN INDUSTRY-READY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Lusaka, Zambia – 17th July, 2026 –
The Zambia University College of Technology (ZUT) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lusaka Telecom Solutions LTS Group to strengthen industry collaboration and equip students with the practical skills required to thrive in today's rapidly evolving labour market.

The partnership marks another significant milestone in ZUT's commitment to producing competent, industry-ready graduates by creating opportunities for internships, industrial attachments, work-based learning and professional development programmes.

Through this collaboration, students will gain valuable workplace exposure while industry partners contribute to curriculum development to ensure graduates possess skills that meet current and future market demands.
Commenting on the partnership, ZUT Vice Chancellor Dr. Betty Shitima Bweupe described the agreement as a strategic step towards enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education through stronger engagement with industry.

"Industry feedback is critical because it enables institutions to respond to rapidly changing technology trends. This partnership will ensure that curriculum improvements directly benefit students while addressing the skills needs of the industry," said Dr. Bweupe.

Dr. Bweupe further reaffirmed the University's commitment to innovation and continuous programme development, revealing that ZUT is awaiting accreditation from the Higher Education Authority (HEA) to introduce new programmes in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

She also highlighted the University's collaboration with the Ministry of Technology and Science in remote sensing to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges through research and data analysis.
"At ZUT, we remain committed to producing graduates who are equipped with relevant, practical and future-focused skills that enable them to transition successfully into employment while contributing meaningfully to national development," she added.

Meanwhile, LTS Group Africa General Manager, Mr. Ahmed Hameed, said the partnership reflects the company's long-term commitment to investing in people as a foundation for sustainable growth.

"This collaboration will bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace experience by providing students with practical industry exposure through internships, industrial attachments and work-based learning opportunities. As LTS Group continues to expand across Zambia and Africa, investing in human capital remains just as important as investing in technology," said Mr. Hameed.

Mr. Hameed disclosed that LTS Group has already hosted 10 ZUT students under the partnership and plans to increase internship and industrial attachment opportunities as the company expands its operations across the continent.

The partnership reinforces ZUT's strategic focus on strengthening academia-industry linkages, promoting innovation, and producing graduates who are equipped to support Zambia's industrialisation agenda and the demands of a technology-driven economy.
